We, Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings Ltd. received “A- “on CDP climate change questionnaire which evaluate the activities on climate change, ran by CDP, an international non-profit organization.
※CDP evaluates and disclose the measures which major corporations and cities take for climate change and so on, based on the answers to the questionnaire about “climate change” “water” “forest” which demands disclosure of business operational risk caused by greenhouse gas emission and climate change.
The levels of evaluation are A, A- (leadership level), B, B- (management level), C, C- (recognized level), D, D- (disclosure level) and F. In2019, about 8,400 companies around the world including 316 Japanese companies replied the questionnaire.
In the purpose of changing all the top lightings to LED illumination fixture at our stores, we have invested about 8.5 billion yen by the fiscal year of 2018. We have replaced 500,000 lighting equipment with LED illumination fixtures. We have used fluorescent lamps, high-intensity discharge lamps and halogen lamps before the replacement. As a result of this replacement, we could reduce 38% of annual electricity compare with 2010.

Our three flag stores, Isetan Shinjuku Main Store, Mitsukoshi Nihombashi Main Store and Mitsukoshi Ginza store, received the highest rank, “S” in Certification for real estate by Comprehensive Assessment System for Built Environment Efficiency※ in June, 2016. It is the first time for the department store to receive this certification. We have been evaluated for “active effort on consideration on surrounding environment such as earthquake-resistant, maintenance, measures for energy-saving and roof top greening” and “keeping high environmental performance by maintenance and environmental consideration as a corporation for long time.”
