The Isetan Mitsukoshi group works on establishing better quality control and safe environment for our customer come and enjoy shopping at our stores.
The Quality Control team belongs to the General Affairs department in Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings Ltd. They hold the role as maintain and improve the quality of merchandises selling at all the Isetan Mitsukoshi group store in Japan. Employees who has special knowledge in foods, textile products and other merchandises (such as cosmetics, shoes, furniture and jewels) work hard to practice and maintain “Quality of merchandises, Assurance of safety, correct indications” which is ranked in high position in the result of customer questionnaire.
Apply variety of quality control standard of the Isetan Mitsukoshi group.
We establish and apply the standards and rules related to quality in the needs of the department store, where deals in various merchandises, selling appropriate merchandises.

We take various activities to improve our Quality Control
We, not only the member of the quality control group, but also entire group act for selling safe and secure merchandises.
・We inspect appropriately, from the special sight of the quality control, such as event inspections and kitchen inspections.
・We offer our employee to learn necessaire knowledge of merchandises.
The education is given by various way such as lecture, correspondence education and even in morning gathering and notice board on inner network.
We recently promote effective education with digitalized challenge, such as CBT using smart devices, PC and smartphone for instance, two-way simultaneous lecture and on-demand type lecture.
The courses are offered based on the request from the front line, such as “indication,” “law”,” knowledge related to food poisoning”, “food allergy”, “knowledge related to laundry”, “Rules on expression for advertisement.”
・We carry our various inspection at all the stores.
We use the time before opening to avoid occurrence of accidents caused by merchandises by excluding not appropriate merchandises from selling, such as checking displays of merchandises at store and finding extraneous object and damaged merchandises.
We are also having inspection on high risk theme, such as “allergy” and “needles”.
We are making safe and secure base with playing a role in the quality control.

We set inspection equipment, such as equipment for bacteriological examination, fluorescent X-ray analysis, FT-IR and microscope.
・We always adapt new information.
We aggressively adapt information from administrative organization, inspective organization and business group and also join lecture classes related to.
The important information is shared with not only inside of our group but also with our business partner to offer good merchandises to our customers.
We are taking following countermeasures to prevent expansion of Coronavirus disease 2019 (hereinafter, this is called "COVID-2019”) in our department stores in Japan.

We also complete taking ones’ temperature by infrared thermography camera at the entrance for both our customer and our employees wearing face mask as regularly and disinfecting inside of our stores.
①Our request to our customers
・Take ones’ temperature at the entrance (measured by infrared thermography camera and touchless thermometers).
・Wear face mask.
・Keep appropriately distance (so-called physical distance) between customers.
・Disinfect fingers and hands.
・Enter our stores from limited entrance (we have blocked some entrances).
・We make announcement on wearing face mask, washing hands, keeping physical distance by video and such.
②Measures inside the store.
・Disinfection of our store and equipment regularly.
Example of the place to disinfect regularly are following.
→cart and basket for grocery shopping, handrail, equipment, counter, fitting room and hangers.
・Set droplet infection prevention sheets.
・The closure of some place for kids and rest.
・Make less physical contact between our customers and our employees.
→having process for money transfer, such as cash, credit card and receipt, on tray.
・Use disinfected pen when in need.
・Suspension of offering foods and drinks out of restaurant and space for eat.

The summer clearance sale which many customers expect a lot every year, we reinforced our online sale.
We reinforced our online sale this years’ summer clearance sale which many customers expect a lot every year. It also started intermittently by floor and brand. Some popular area where occurrence of congestion is predicted was restricted to enter.
Event which occurrence of congestion is predicted such as the exhibition of products.
We avoid the congestion by making prior announcement of limited entrance, having hourly entrance and online sales. In the event, the passage is set wider than normal times and droplet infection prevention sheets are also set. The cases which could make our customers safe and happy is shared in our group and improved.
④Measures for our employees’ safety
・Complete wash ones’ hand, gargle and disinfection.
・Wear face mask at store front and back office (some may wear face shield).
・Take ones’ temperature at employees’ entrance when one comes to the store or office.
・Enforce three Cs measures (not to enclose space, not to crowd, not to contact closely).
Since increasing COVID-19 infected people from July 2020, we reinforced our measures.
・Obtain face shield for our employee working at store front. (Obtained over 20,000 pieces)
・During start and end of work
→Approve our employee to work with their own cloth (normally they wear uniform).
・Measures for rest space and rest time.
→make more space between chairs and set partitions at the rest space.
→reinforce air-conditioning by opening windows.
→expand space for rest.
・Recommendation of dining and resting in few people.
→broadcast the announcement saying “eat and drink in silence, speak with wearing face mask” at canteen.
The group recommend downloading “COCOA” (COVID-19 Contact-Confirming Application run by Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare) to smartphone lent from us.
