We comply with and practice the Ten Principles of the UNGC in the four areas of human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption, and we will fulfill our social responsibility as a corporate entity for the sustainable societies. |
The UNGC is a voluntary initiative in which companies and organizations act as good members of society and participate in the creation of a global framework for realizing sustainable growth by demonstrating responsible and creative leadership.
The Ten Principles of the UNGC
Human Rights | Principle 1: Businesses should support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights; and Principle 2: make sure that they are not complicit in human rights abuses. |
Labour | Principle 3: Businesses should uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining; Principle 4: the elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labour; Principle 5: the effective abolition of child labour; and Principle 6: the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation. |
Environment | Principle 7: Businesses should support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges; Principle 8: undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility; and Principle 9: encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies. |
Anti-Corruption | Principle 10: Businesses should work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery. |
The Japan Climate Initiative is a network of diverse entities outside of the national government, including companies, local governments, organizations, and NGOs that are actively working to combat climate change.
The Isetan Mitsukoshi Group Environmental Policy states “The Isetan Mitsukoshi Group shall meet face to face with customers and other stakeholders, consider activities for protecting the environment as a corporate social responsibility, and fulfill that responsibility to realize a sustainable society where people live in harmony with the global environment.” In line with this commitment, in October 2018, we expressed our endorsement of the Japan Climate Initiative in order the Group as a whole to help realize a sustainable society.
Going forward, we will consider and implement initiatives to help realize a more decarbonized society.
